The Big Bus Project
it’s finally time to do it…..
During ‘22 we’re going to go through a full bare-metal restoration of our beloved bus, The PaddyWagon. We’ve spent a long time making plans and most importantly finding some absolutely top class talented individuals to help us and in between the madness I’ll update here as we go along.
The PaddyWagon
It seems everyone has some affiliation with a VW in the past. For me it was our local veg man Harry who had an early bay single cab, for Anita it was uncle Tommy who had a Dove Blue panel.
It was one of those things we talked about without any realistic plan of ever having one. However in 2011 using money left behind by Anita’s dad who had sadly passed away we decided to do something positive and take the jump into spilt ownership.
After looking at busses in Ireland, England and even Italy we ended up back at a bus in Cork, with a really nice guy called Roy. From the start and for no technical reason it seemed to be calling us but then we found out it was a Krankenwagen (That’s an ambulance) and that was us hook, line and sinker.
You see Anita’s dad, Paddy, was a member of Dublin Fire Brigade for years and as part of his job drove ambulances on a daily basis. It seemed meant to be, and of course thats why we christened him the PaddyWagon.
