Vampire Weekend.

Vampire Weekend (2024).
Me and Anita. This one was a long time coming. I'd been a fan for years but somehow never managed to tick the Vampire Weekend box. With Only God Was Above Us, an absolute 10/10 album, and a band with a great live reputation, I knew I had to go. We picked Wolverhampton just to mix it up a bit.
It was billed as An Evening with Vampire Weekend: no support, two and a half hours. Ice Cream Piano was on my 2024 list. Then came a request section that ran to twelve covers, from Iron Man to Come on Eileen, before they closed on Walcott.
The musical ingenuity of Ezra and the band, along with a clear sense of humour, puts this up there with the very best gigs.
