Doves (March 2025).
Doves are one of those bands that soundtrack a very particular part of your life, so when they announced a tour for Constellations for the Lonely, their first album in years, I went to Brum for it.
A pint and a packet of Tayto in front of the football, dinner, then a walk through Digbeth's backstreets under the festoon lights to the O2 Institute.
Jimi Goodwin wasn't with them, as he's stepped back from touring, so Andy and Jez Williams took the vocals. It was my first time seeing them without Jimi, and in a venue I really don't like, but they were as good and consistent as ever.
I've probably seen them about five times now, in their various guises. The following year they were special guests for James in Newcastle.
