Scroobius Pip.

Scroobius Pip (2013).

The moment Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip broke through with Thou Shalt Always Kill, I was hooked, and their debut album Angles is still one of my favourites. My brother Andy and I followed the lads all over the place, got to know both of them to a degree, and in turn B. Dolan and Sage Francis too.

This was a trip up the road to Belfast in January for Pip on his own, at The Black Box in the Cathedral Quarter. It was the Distraction Pieces era: spoken word over beats, and a crowd small enough that you could hear every word of it.

Later that year it was Dan and Pip together at the Workman's.

The setlist.

There's no setlist on record for the Belfast night, so the playlist is a solo Pip set from the same era (Bristol, July 2012). Listen: Apple Music · Spotify
